When was the first time you went to Cannon Beach with the family?
- It was August 14th 1988. I was 6 years old.
- It was 3 years ago. I was 2 months pregnant with Owen.
Why do you look forward to Cannon Beach every year?
- I get to be with the whole family.
- I look forward to it each year because, of course to be with family, and also to see my kids having fun and interacting with their cousins, Aunts and Uncles, and Grandparents.
What is your favorite Cannon Beach memory?
- I don’t know if this is my favorite, but I definitely won’t forget it. It was probably one of the last times that we drove the VW bus there. It broke down on the way home about 45 min outside of Cannon Beach. We had Grandma and Grandpa Howard with us and they needed to catch a plane. They took a taxi to Portland and we waited. We spent quite a bit of time at this tow truck place waiting for a part. Every time we pass that place, I still think of ol’ what’s his name. I think it was Bob or Jack or Frank… obviously I don’t remember it that well.
- My favorite memory was 2 years ago, Owen was 5 months and Joey was 3 months. We were all outside by the fire, Pat was holding Joey and Corla was holding Owen, and I remember thinking to myself that I was so lucky to have great in-laws and grandparents for my kid(s). Sorry that is kind of cheesy, but I can still remember what Owen was wearing. I definitely felt so blessed to be in our situation!
What is your funniest memory at Cannon Beach?
- The funniest thing I can think of recently was two years ago when Amy was putting Joey to bed upstairs. She was bouncing on the exercise ball so the floor was creaking over and over again. That was funny enough, but the story got even better when she came down. She farted by the monitor and thought maybe we had heard it so she said “JOEY!” None of us heard any of it so it was really funny to hear her explanation.
- The Hoopla game where John had to act out Mardi Gras and he lifted his shirt up and threw “beads” at everyone. That , and the classic “slipped on the ice” Scattergories game with the family a few years ago.
Which house that we stayed in was your favorite?
- I think I have to agree with Dad and say the Breland home. It was so close to the rock and the beach. It also had a very “homey” feeling to it.
- I don’t have too many to choose from, so I guess the first one. It was better than the bed bug house.
What is your favorite game we play?
- Does golf count? I guess I would have to go with Scattergories, then.
- I think that I am going to have to go with Scattergories. Although, Scrabble comes in close second.
What is your favorite outside and inside activity we do?
- Outside=Surfing/Inside=Annual Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest or Little League World Series (Whatever happens to be on.)
- Outside=Bocce Ball/Inside=Helping Corla cook.
What is your favorite food we eat?
- Ice Cream
- Hamburgers
What is your favorite store in town?
- The Ice Cream Store
- I can’t remember the name of it, but it is where we all bought our girls shirts last year.
What one thing do you just have to do this year?
- Golf… Jada says I can golf anywhere, but I say I can’t golf with my brothers anywhere.
- I think that I have to play Pit! I know I didn’t put it down as my favorite game, but I just really like that game.
What is your favorite ice cream flavor?
- Strawberry Cheese Cake
- Chocolate Chip Mint
Which do you like better the sunrises or sunsets?
- I like the sunrise because it means we have a whole day of fun ahead of us.
- I guess I am awake for both, but I don’t like to be awake for the sunrises, so it has got to be sunsets.
